How to Connect Sony Headphones to an Avantree Bluetooth Transmitter

Follow these steps to put your Sony headphones and Avantree transmitter into pairing mode together.

Step 1 – Turn Off Nearby Bluetooth

Turn OFF Bluetooth on any phone, tablet, computer, or TV that was previously connected to your Sony headphones. This prevents the headphones from reconnecting to another device.

Step 2 – Put Your Sony Headphones in Pairing Mode

Your Sony headphones must be in Bluetooth pairing mode, not simply turned ON. Select your model below.

Sony WH-1000XM4 / XM3 / XM2

Start with the headphones OFF.
Press and hold the Power button for about 7 seconds.
Release when you hear “Bluetooth pairing.”

WH-1000XM4 / XM3: BLUE flashes twice repeatedly = Pairing mode

WH-1000XM2: RED and BLUE flashing = Pairing mode

Put both earbuds in your ears.
Press and hold the touch sensors on both earbuds for about 7 seconds.
Release when you hear “Bluetooth pairing.”

Sony WI-1000X

Start with the headphones OFF.
Press and hold the Power button for about 7 seconds.
Release when you hear “Bluetooth pairing.”

Step 3 – Put the Avantree Transmitter in Pairing Mode

Put your Avantree transmitter into Bluetooth pairing mode. The button and LED vary by model, so refer to your transmitter's pairing guide if needed.

Step 4 – Wait for Them to Connect

Keep the Sony headphones and Avantree transmitter close together.
Make sure both devices are in pairing mode at the same time.
Wait a few seconds for them to connect. The pairing indicators should stop flashing.
