First, Find Your Exact Headphone or Earbud Model

Pairing steps can be different even for products from the same brand. Choose your brand below, then open the instructions only when you need them.

The exact model matters

These are general pairing instructions. If the buttons, lights, or steps do not match your headphones, check the manufacturer's instructions for your exact model.

Before You Start

Turn Bluetooth Off Nearby Temporarily turn Bluetooth off on phones, tablets, computers, and TVs your headphones normally connect to.

Keep Them Close Keep the headphones or earbuds close to your Avantree transmitter while pairing.

Check the Battery Make sure the headphones or earbuds have enough charge before starting.

Pairing Mode Is Different From Simply Turning the Headphones On

Your headphones need to be discoverable so the Avantree transmitter can find them.

POWERED ON Not necessarily ready to pair

A normal power light or startup sound may only mean the headphones are turned on.

PAIRING MODE Ready for a new Bluetooth connection

The LED usually flashes repeatedly, or you may hear "Pairing" or "Ready to connect."

How Do I Know They're in Pairing Mode?

The Bluetooth LED is flashing repeatedly.

You hear a voice prompt such as "Pairing" or "Ready to connect."

The headphones are no longer automatically reconnecting to another nearby device.

Choose Your Brand

Select a brand to jump to its instructions. Each section stays closed until you click it.

AirPods / AirPods Pro AirPods Max Bose Beats Sony Samsung JBL Other / Can't Find Model

AirPods / AirPods Pro Click to view pairing instructions

AirPods with a setup button on the back of the case

Put both AirPods in the charging case and open the lid.

Press and hold the button on the back of the case until pairing mode starts.

Continue when the case light flashes white.

AirPods with no setup button on the back

Keep the AirPods inside the case and open the lid.

Use the pairing action on the front of the charging case for your AirPods model.

Continue when the case light flashes white.

AirPods Max Click to view pairing instructions

Press and hold the Noise Control button until the status light begins flashing white.

The LED flashes white when AirPods Max are ready to pair.

Bose Click to view general Bose pairing instructions

Make sure the headphones are not connected to another nearby device.

On many Bose models, press and hold the Power / Bluetooth control until pairing mode starts.

Look for a flashing Bluetooth light or listen for a pairing prompt.

Bose controls vary by model.

Turn on your Beats headphones or earbuds.

Use the system, power, or pairing button for your exact model until Bluetooth pairing mode begins.

Look for a flashing status light.

Beats products use different controls depending on the model.

Make sure the Sony headphones are not already connected to another nearby device.

On many Sony models, press and hold the Power or Bluetooth button until pairing mode begins.

Look for a repeating Bluetooth light or listen for a pairing prompt.

The button and hold time can differ by Sony model.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Click to view pairing guidance

Put both earbuds into the charging case.

Close the charging case briefly, then open it again.

Check whether the earbuds enter Bluetooth pairing mode.

Important: If the Galaxy Buds have previously been paired with another device, opening the case may not be enough. Manual pairing steps vary by model.

Turn the JBL headphones on.

On many JBL models, press and hold the Power / Bluetooth control until pairing mode starts.

Look for a flashing Bluetooth LED.

Don't See Your Headphones or Don't Know the Model?

Pairing instructions are much easier to find when you know the exact brand + model number. Check these common locations:

Headband Look inside or underneath

Ear Cup Look for small printed text

Charging Case Look inside or underneath

Original Box Check the product label

Don't know the model number?

Search Google for where your headphone brand normally prints the model number.

Headphones Are Flashing or Saying "Pairing"?

Your headphones are now ready. Put your Avantree transmitter into pairing mode and keep the two devices close together while they connect.

Still Not Connecting?

They reconnect to your phone

Temporarily turn Bluetooth off on that phone or disconnect the headphones from it.

The light isn't flashing

The headphones may only be powered on. Check the exact model's pairing instructions.

Nothing happens when holding the button

Confirm you are using the correct button and that the headphones have enough battery.
