How to Factory Reset Apple AirPods Max

Reset your AirPods Max if they will not connect, keep connecting to the wrong device, or will not pair with an Avantree Bluetooth transmitter.

Step 1 – Charge Your AirPods Max

Before resetting, charge your AirPods Max to at least 50%.

Step 2 – Factory Reset the AirPods Max

Find the Digital Crown and Noise Control / Listening Mode button on the top of the right ear cup.
Press and hold both buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds.
Watch the LED near the charging port.

AMBER flashing, then WHITE flashing = Reset complete

Important: Do not release the buttons when you first see the AMBER light. Keep holding until the LED flashes WHITE.

Step 3 – Pair with Your Avantree Transmitter Again

Put your Avantree transmitter into Bluetooth pairing mode.
Press and hold the Noise Control / Listening Mode button on the AirPods Max.
Release when the LED flashes:

WHITE flashing = AirPods Max pairing mode

Keep the AirPods Max and transmitter close together.
Wait for them to connect.

If they do not connect, temporarily turn Bluetooth OFF on nearby phones, tablets, computers, and TVs so the AirPods Max do not reconnect to another device.

Reset Did Not Work?

Charge the AirPods Max to at least 50%.
Make sure you are pressing the Digital Crown and Noise Control / Listening Mode button together.
Keep holding for the full 15 seconds.
Do not release the buttons until the LED changes from AMBER to WHITE flashing.
