Hearing sound from only one AirPod? Audio cutting out, distorted, or missing? A loose AUX connection or an interrupted Bluetooth connection may be the cause. Try these fixes in order.
Check the AUX Connection
- Unplug Relay from the audio jack.
- Insert it again firmly and completely.
- Play audio and check both sides.
Single 3.5 mm Jack
Insert Relay directly into the headphone jack until fully seated.
Dual-Prong Airplane Jack
Check that Relay is fully inserted into the adapter and both adapter plugs are fully inserted.
Do not leave it partially inserted. Try another compatible audio jack or source. The port or adapter may not be making proper contact.
Refresh the Bluetooth Connection
- Turn Bluetooth OFF on nearby phones, tablets, or computers previously paired with your headphones.
- For AirPods / AirPods Pro: Place both earbuds in the charging case and close the lid for a few seconds.
- Remove both earbuds and allow them to reconnect to Relay.
- Play audio and test again.
For AirPods Max, Sony, Bose, JBL, Sennheiser, and other Bluetooth headphones, turn the headphones off and back on, then reconnect them to Relay.
If they do not reconnect automatically, put your headphones into pairing mode and pair them with Relay again.
BLUETOOTH HEADPHONE PAIRING GUIDE →If Relay still will not reconnect, follow the dedicated troubleshooting guide.
Relay – Headphones Not Connecting →Test Another Audio Source
If sound is still missing, distorted, or cutting out, test Relay with another 3.5 mm audio source, such as a laptop or tablet.
Works on Another Source
The original audio jack or adapter may be causing the issue. Try another available output.
Same Problem on Both Sources
Test another Bluetooth headset with Relay, if available, to narrow down the cause.
Lower the audio source volume slightly and test again. If static continues across different audio jacks, the jack alone may not be the cause.
Still Not Working? Reset and Reconnect
If the problem continues, reset Relay and your headphones, then pair them again. Follow the reset instructions for your exact headphone model.
RESET RELAY → RESET AIRPODS / AIRPODS PRO →Other headphones: Follow the manufacturer's model-specific reset instructions.
