Relay Dual-Link Troubleshooting
Having Trouble Connecting Two Headphones to Relay?
Follow the steps below in order to connect two Bluetooth headphones or earbuds to Relay.
Before You Start

Update Relay to the latest firmware.
Update Relay Firmware → -
Factory reset Relay after the firmware update.
This clears previous Bluetooth pairing information before you start again.
How to Factory Reset Relay → - Make sure both headphones are disconnected from phones and other Bluetooth devices.
- Keep Relay and both headphones close together during pairing.
Important: Prevent Automatic Reconnection
Bluetooth headphones and earbuds often automatically reconnect to a phone, tablet, computer, TV, or another Bluetooth device that they were previously paired with.
Before pairing either pair with Relay, make sure the headphones are not connected to another Bluetooth device.
Temporarily turn Bluetooth OFF on nearby phones, tablets, computers, TVs, and other previously paired devices.
Pair the Headphones in This Order
Pair the first headphones and wait until they are fully connected.
Do not turn off or disconnect the first pair.
Pair the second headphones while the first pair remains connected.
Put Headphones 1 in Pairing Mode
Simply turning the headphones on may not be enough. They must be ready to connect to a new Bluetooth device.

Pairing steps vary by headphone and earbud brand and model.

Relay must also be actively searching for Headphones 1.
On Relay
Press and hold the Multifunction Button (MFB) for approximately 2 seconds.
Keep Headphones 1 close to Relay and wait for them to connect.
Leave Headphones 1 powered on and connected while you add Headphones 2.
Put Headphones 2 in Pairing Mode
Keep Headphones 1 connected while preparing the second pair.
Check Headphones 2 Before Pairing
Make sure Headphones 2 are not reconnecting to a previously paired phone, tablet, computer, TV, or other Bluetooth device.
If they keep reconnecting somewhere else, temporarily turn Bluetooth off on that device.
Put Relay in Pairing Mode Again
Headphones 1 should remain connected while Relay searches for Headphones 2.
On Relay
Press and hold the Multifunction Button (MFB) for approximately 2 seconds again.
Keep Headphones 2 close to Relay and wait for the second connection.
Play audio and confirm both pairs can hear the sound.

Open only the section that matches what you are experiencing.
Second Headphones Will Not Connect
- Keep Headphones 1 connected. Do not turn them off while pairing the second pair.
- Disconnect Headphones 2 from previously paired devices. Temporarily turn Bluetooth off on nearby phones, tablets, computers, TVs, and other devices they normally use.
- Put Headphones 2 back into pairing mode.
- Put Relay into pairing mode again. Press and hold the MFB for approximately 2 seconds.
- Keep Headphones 2 close to Relay until they connect.
Second Headphones Connected but No Sound
Follow these steps in order.
- Make sure Headphones 2 are not connected to another Bluetooth device.
- If using true wireless earbuds, put both earbuds into their charging case.
- Close the charging case and wait a few seconds.
- Turn Relay off.
- Wait approximately 5 seconds.
- Turn Relay back on.
- Remove the earbuds from the charging case, or turn both headphones back on.
- Wait until both pairs reconnect to Relay.
- Confirm the Relay connection indicators are solid blue.
- Play audio and test both pairs again.
Using Two Pairs of True Wireless Earbuds?
True wireless earbuds may automatically reconnect to devices they were previously paired with and can require more Bluetooth bandwidth in dual-link mode.
For the most stable result, two over-ear Bluetooth headphones or two similar earbud models may work more reliably.
If audio is unstable, test each pair with Relay one at a time to confirm that each pair works correctly by itself.
Still Not Working? Reset Relay and Pair Again
If dual link still does not work correctly, clear Relay's pairing history and rebuild both Bluetooth connections.

- Turn Bluetooth off on nearby phones, tablets, computers, TVs, and other previously paired devices.
- Put Headphones 1 into pairing mode.
- Press and hold Relay's MFB for approximately 2 seconds to enter pairing mode.
- Wait until Headphones 1 are connected.
- Leave Headphones 1 connected.
- Put Headphones 2 into pairing mode.
- Press and hold Relay's MFB for approximately 2 seconds to enter pairing mode again.
- Wait until Headphones 2 are connected.
- Play audio and test both pairs.
