Bluetooth typically supports one-to-one connections. When trying to pair two TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds, it can exceed Bluetooth’s limits, causing one or both devices to lose connection or audio. Avantree transmitters support dual-link, but careful pairing is required to avoid interference.
Important First Step: DFU & Factory Reset
✅ Before any pairing steps, please update your Relay to the latest firmware(v10.5.1 ) and reset it.
- Update your Relay via the Avantree Firmware Update page:
👉 Relay Firmware Update - Once the update is complete, perform a Factory Reset on the Relay.
Quick Check
✅ Make sure Bluetooth is OFF on all other devices.
✅ Keep the first headset connected while pairing the second.
✅ Both devices should show solid blue indicators.
Step-by-Step Fix
1. Turn off Bluetooth on all other devices
● Mobile phones, laptops, speakers, and other headphones may interfere with pairing.
2. Keep the first pair connected
● The first headset should show a solid blue light before pairing the second.
3. Connect the second pair
● Once successfully connected, both Headset 1 and Headset 2 indicators will be solid blue.
4. If the second pair has no sound
5. Place both earbuds back into their charging cases
6. Turn off the Relay
7. Turn on the Relay
8. Remove earbuds from the cases
9. Wait a few seconds – both should reconnect and function properly
Most Common Issues / Why This Happens
● Bluetooth one-to-one limitation: AirPods and many TWS earbuds struggle with dual connections.
● Device interference: Phones, laptops, or other headphones can interrupt pairing.
● Mixed device types: Pairing one over-ear headphone with earbuds can be unstable.
● Audio missing on second pair: Sometimes the second device connects but produces no sound.
💡 Tip:
● For best performance, use two over-ear headphones instead of earbuds, or two identical earbud sets. This reduces connection instability and ensures both devices maintain a solid connection.
