AUDIO FIX
Harmony A1 / A2 – Audio Stuttering or Distortion
Use the steps below if audio skips, cuts out, crackles, or sounds distorted.
First: Check how your phone, tablet, computer, TV, or other source is connected to the Harmony transmitter: Bluetooth or an AUX cable.
My Source Is Connected by Bluetooth
Step 1 – Update the Transmitter
- Update the Harmony transmitter to the latest firmware version.
- Restart the transmitter, reconnect your source device, and test again.
Step 2 – Check the Network or App
- Try a different song, video, or app.
- Play an audio file saved on your phone, tablet, or computer.
- If possible, switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data.
- Check whether the video is also buffering or freezing.
If saved audio plays normally, or cellular data fixes the problem, your Wi-Fi, internet connection, or online content may be causing the interruption.
Step 3 – Move the Source Device Closer
- Move your phone, tablet, or computer closer to the transmitter.
- Keep walls, large objects, and metal objects out of the path between them.
Step 4 – Reduce Wireless Interference
- Move the transmitter at least 1 meter / 3 feet away from Wi-Fi routers and other wireless devices.
- Do not place the transmitter on top of, behind, or directly beside a Wi-Fi router.
Step 5 – Reconnect Bluetooth
- Delete the Harmony transmitter from your source device’s Bluetooth list.
- Restart both the source device and transmitter.
- Pair them again.
- Disconnect nearby unused Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and smartwatches while testing.
My Source Is Connected by AUX Cable
Check the AUX Connection
- Make sure the AUX plug is fully inserted at both ends.
- Unplug and reconnect the AUX cable.
- Check whether the cable is loose, bent, or damaged.
- Try another AUX cable, if available.
Adjust the Source Volume
- Set the source device volume to about 50%–70%.
- If you hear distortion or crackling, lower the source volume.
- Turn off EQ, bass boost, volume enhancement, and other sound effects on the source device.
If the Speaker Audio Still Stutters
- Move the affected speaker closer to the transmitter.
- Keep the path between the transmitter and speaker as clear as possible.
- Move the speaker away from walls, metal objects, Wi-Fi routers, and large electronic devices.
- Place the transmitter in an open, higher location when possible. Do not keep it inside a metal cabinet or behind the TV.
If only one speaker has the problem, focus on that speaker’s location and the area around it.
Something Doesn’t Look Right?
Only One Speaker Has Poor Audio
Move that speaker next to the transmitter and test again. If the audio improves, the original location likely has too much distance, blockage, or wireless interference.
