This depends on your TV
This is a TV-based feature. Most modern TVs can play sound through both TV speakers and Optical Out to your Avantree transmitter, but some TVs cannot.
Check whether your TV supports both audio outputs
Keep Audikast 4 connected to the TV's Optical output, then use the quick test below.
Quick Test
This is the easiest way to find out whether your TV can play through its speakers and Audikast 4 at the same time.
Keep Audikast 4 connected
Leave the Optical cable connected between the TV and Audikast 4.
Play something on the TV
Play a TV channel, streaming app, or other program that has sound.
Switch the TV back to its built-in speakers
Open the TV's audio settings and select TV Speaker.
Check both
Confirm whether sound is coming from the TV speakers while your headphones or hearing aids connected through Audikast 4 are also receiving sound.
Your TV supports simultaneous TV speaker and Optical audio. You can use both together.
Your TV may disable Optical Out when TV Speaker is selected. Check the TV settings below.
If Audikast 4 Loses Sound
Check whether your TV has a setting that allows its speakers and Optical output to work at the same time.
Look for a simultaneous audio setting
The exact name varies by TV brand and model. Look for wording similar to:
Set Digital Audio Output to PCM
If Optical Out remains active but Audikast 4 has no sound, set the TV's digital audio format to PCM.
No additional equipment is needed
Keep Audikast 4 connected to Optical Out and leave your TV speakers enabled.
What if my TV doesn't support both outputs?
If selecting TV Speaker disables Optical Out and your TV has no simultaneous audio setting, the TV may not support playing through both outputs at the same time.
If you need room audio while someone listens through Audikast 4, you can use a compatible soundbar setup instead.

Still Not Working?

TV speakers work, but Audikast 4 has no sound
- Check whether your TV has a TV Speaker + Optical, Multi-Output Audio, or similar setting.
- Set the TV's Digital Audio Output / Digital Sound Format to PCM.
- Test Audikast 4 again.
I can't find a TV Speaker + Optical setting
Not every TV provides a dedicated simultaneous-output setting. Some TVs keep Optical Out active automatically while TV Speaker is selected, while others disable it.
If Audikast 4 stops receiving audio whenever you select TV Speaker and there is no simultaneous-output option, your TV may not support both outputs at the same time.
I hear an echo when both are playing
The TV speakers and wireless headphones or hearing aids can have slightly different audio delays. If both are heard at the same time, this can create an echo effect.
