NB16-Q – How to Clean the Earbuds & Eartips

Earwax or debris may cause quiet, muffled, or uneven sound. Regular cleaning helps keep the sound clear.

What You’ll Need

Use only dry cleaning tools:

Cotton swab
Clean, soft, dry brush
Clean, dry microfiber cloth

Keep the earbuds dry. Do not use water, alcohol, soap, cleaning spray, or other liquids.

Step 1 – Remove the Eartip

Gently pull the silicone eartip off the earbud. Do not pull or twist it forcefully.

Step 2 – Clean the Eartip

Use a dry cotton swab or soft brush to remove earwax and debris. Wipe the eartip with a clean, dry microfiber cloth and make sure its opening is clear.

Step 3 – Clean the Speaker Mesh

Hold the earbud with the speaker mesh facing downward.
Gently brush across the surface using a soft, dry brush.
Let the loosened debris fall away from the earbud.

Do not push anything into the speaker opening. A cotton swab, brush, pin, or other object may push debris deeper or damage the speaker mesh.

Step 4 – Reattach the Eartip

Place the clean eartip back onto the earbud. Press it gently into position until it is fully attached and secure.

Step 5 – Test the Sound

Put on the NB16-Q and play some audio. Check that:

The sound is clear
The left and right sides have similar volume
The sound is no longer muffled

Something Doesn’t Look Right?

The Speaker Mesh Is Very Dirty

Do not scrape or puncture the mesh. If dry cleaning cannot clear it, the speaker mesh cover can be replaced.

The Eartip Is Damaged or Loose

Replace an eartip that is torn, damaged, loose, or will not remain securely attached to the earbud.

Cleaning Did Not Fix the Sound

Try another audio source and check the headphone volume. If both speaker meshes are clean but the sound remains unusually low or uneven, contact Avantree Support.
