PowerByte – Firmware Update v3.0: Lower Minimum Volume
Is the lowest PowerByte volume still too loud? Firmware v3.0 lowers the minimum volume level.
Is This Update for You?
Install firmware v3.0 if the PowerByte is still too loud at its lowest volume setting.
What You Need
- USB flash drive – 32GB or smaller
- Computer
- Firmware file: update.ufw
Step 1 – Download the Firmware
Click update.ufw to download the PowerByte v3.0 firmware to your computer.
After downloading, open the downloaded ZIP file and locate update.ufw.
Step 2 – Prepare the USB Flash Drive
- Connect the USB flash drive to your computer.
- Make sure it is formatted as FAT32.
- Remove any other files from the USB drive.
- Copy update.ufw directly onto the USB drive.
The firmware file should not be inside a folder. Safely remove the USB drive from your computer.
Step 3 – Install the Firmware
- Turn the PowerByte ON. It can be in any mode.
- Insert the prepared USB flash drive into the PowerByte's USB port.
- The screen will turn BLACK.
⚠️ The Black Screen Is Normal
The update has started. Do not turn off the PowerByte or remove the USB drive.
Wait about 16 seconds. The screen will briefly light up, you will hear several beeps, then the screen will turn off again.
Step 4 – After the Update
- Remove the USB flash drive.
- Turn the PowerByte OFF.
- Turn it back ON.
Step 5 – Check That the Update Worked
After restarting, check that the PowerByte works normally in all modes.
Lower the PowerByte volume and confirm that the minimum volume is now quieter.
Update Did Not Start?
If the screen does not turn black, check:
- USB drive is 32GB or smaller
- USB drive is formatted as FAT32
- File is named update.ufw
- File is not inside a folder
- USB drive contains no other files
Insert the USB drive again. If the update still does not start, try another compatible USB flash drive.

If the minimum volume is still too loud after completing the update, contact Avantree Support for further assistance.
Want to Return to the Original Firmware?
You can restore the original PowerByte firmware using the same update steps above.
Download the original firmware and follow Steps 1–5 again.
