DG80P: Adjust Your Audio Source's Sound Settings

Already connected your Bluetooth headphones or speakers to the Avantree DG80P, but still can't hear any sound?

Your computer or gaming console may be sending audio to the wrong output device. Select your audio source below to adjust its sound settings.

Before You Begin

Make sure DG80P is connected to your audio source and your Bluetooth headphones or speakers have already been paired with the adapter.

The device name shown in your sound settings may vary by Avantree adapter model. Select the connected Avantree USB audio device.

Select Your Audio Source

Windows PC Sound Settings

Follow these steps to select the Avantree adapter as your Windows audio device.

Open Windows Sound Settings

Go to:

Start → Settings → System → Sound

Select the Output Device

Under Output, select your Avantree USB audio device.

Output Device Avantree Device Name

The displayed name depends on your adapter model.

Select the Input Device

Under Input, select your Avantree USB audio device if you intend to use a supported microphone or voice-chat function.

Windows Audio Settings Complete

Play audio on your PC and check whether you can hear it through your connected Bluetooth headphones.

MacBook macOS Audio

Set your Avantree adapter as the audio output on your MacBook.

Choose the Audio Output

Click the speaker icon in the top menu bar.

From the audio output menu, select Avantree Device Name.

Optional: Configure the Microphone

If you want to use a supported microphone function, open your Mac's Sound Preferences.

Go to the Input tab and select Avantree Device Name.

Optional: Switch to Chat Mode

If you use non-FastStream headphones and want to use a supported microphone function for calls or voice chat, double-click the button on the Avantree adapter to switch into Chat Mode.

Double-click the button again to switch back.

Note

Chat Mode and microphone functionality depend on the adapter and headphone capabilities. Selecting an input device does not guarantee that every Bluetooth headset microphone is supported.

MacBook Audio Settings Complete

Play audio on your MacBook to confirm the sound is coming through your Bluetooth headphones.

PlayStation 4 Audio Devices

Configure your PlayStation 4 to use the connected Avantree adapter.

Open Audio Devices

Go to your PS4's Audio Devices settings.

Set the Input and Output Devices

Set both Input Device and Output Device to the connected Avantree USB audio device.

Test the Game Audio

Start your game and check that the background audio plays through your connected headphones.

You can adjust the audio volume using your controller.

Optional: Use Chat Mode for Voice Chat

If you use non-FastStream headphones and need a supported microphone function for in-game chat, double-click the button on the adapter to enter Chat Mode.

Double-click again to switch back.

Note

Microphone functionality depends on the adapter and connected headset.

PS4 Audio Settings Complete

Your console should now send its audio to the selected Avantree USB audio device.

Common Questions

My Headphones Are Connected, but There's No Sound. Why?

Your audio source may still be sending sound to its built-in speakers or another device.

Open your sound settings and select the connected Avantree USB audio device as the Output Device.

Also check your computer or console volume and your headphone volume.

Do I Need to Select Avantree for Both Input and Output?

Output controls where you hear the sound.

Input controls which microphone is used.

For listening only, selecting the Avantree output device is the essential step.

If you need a microphone, select the appropriate input device and confirm that your adapter and headset support that function.

What Is Chat Mode?

Chat Mode is used for supported voice-call or voice-chat operation with compatible Bluetooth headsets.

The source instructions describe double-clicking the adapter's button to switch into Chat Mode and double-clicking again to switch back.

Actual microphone support depends on the connected equipment.

Why Can't I Find My Headphones in the Computer's Bluetooth Settings?

With DG80P, Bluetooth headphones are paired directly with the adapter.

Your computer treats DG80P as a USB audio device, so you should select it in the computer's sound settings rather than pair through the computer's Bluetooth menu.
