HT280 - Setup Step 1: Connect to your TV / Audio Source – Avantree Support

Choose the Audio Output on Your TV

Check the back or side of your TV and identify which audio output is available. Optical is recommended when your TV has it.

Look for one of these three supported audio outputs.

Recommended Optical May also be labeled Digital Optical, SPDIF, or TOSLINK.

3.5mm AUX May also be labeled Headphones or Audio Out.

Red / White RCA Use only ports labeled Audio OUT.

Important: Red and white RCA ports must be labeled Audio OUT. Audio IN ports will not send TV sound to the HT280.

Use the provided power adapter to connect the tower transmitter to a wall power source.

5V / 500mA–2A

This is the required power specification for the HT280 transmitter.

Use the option below that matches the audio output you found on your TV.

Each option includes the original connection photo for reference.

Connect the optical cable from the TV's Optical OUT to the transmitter's Optical audio input.

Connect the TV's 3.5mm headphone or audio output to the transmitter's analog audio input.

Connect the TV's red and white Audio OUT ports to the corresponding RCA audio inputs on the transmitter.

Make sure the TV ports are labeled Audio OUT, not Audio IN.
