HT5009 - How to Replace the Ear Cushions – Avantree Support

Follow these steps to remove the old ear cushions and install the replacements securely without damaging the headphones.

Replace one ear cushion at a time

Finish one side before moving to the other. You can use the untouched side as a reference for how the cushion should sit on the earcup.

No tools are required.
The cushions can be removed and installed by hand.

Replace the Ear Cushion

Start with one side, then repeat the same steps on the other earcup.

Hold the earcup firmly

Hold the headphone earcup securely with one hand.

Hold the earcup itself, rather than pulling on the headband while removing the cushion.

Remove the old cushion

Use your fingers to gently pull a small section of the ear cushion away from the edge of the earcup.

Start with one small section. Once the edge comes free, continue working around the earcup until the cushion is completely removed.

Important: Don't force or sharply pull the cushion. Work around the edge gradually.

Position the replacement cushion

Place the new cushion over the earcup and locate the mounting edge around the back of the cushion.

This edge needs to fit into the groove around the earcup.

Start by fitting one small section of the cushion into the groove. Hold that section in place before continuing.

Work around the earcup

Continue fitting the cushion into the mounting groove a little at a time.

Press into groove Hold in place Continue around

If one section slips out, return to that area and fit the edge back into the groove before continuing.

Check the entire edge

Once the cushion is attached, run your fingers around the entire edge.

Make sure the cushion is evenly seated all the way around with no loose, lifted, or twisted sections.

One side is finished

Gently check around the edge to confirm the cushion is secure. Then repeat the same steps on the other earcup.

Having Trouble?

Select what you're experiencing.

The old cushion won't come off

Don't try to pull the entire cushion off at once.

Hold the earcup firmly.
Grip one small section of the cushion's edge.
Gently pull that section away from the earcup.
Once it releases, continue around the edge little by little.

The new cushion keeps slipping out

Check that the mounting edge on the back of the cushion is sitting inside the groove around the earcup.

Start with one small section.
Hold that section in place with your finger.
Fit the next section into the groove.
Continue around the earcup gradually.

One section looks loose or uneven

Run your fingers around the cushion and locate the section that is sitting above the mounting groove.

Gently lift that small section, realign it with the groove, and fit it back into place.

The cushion looks twisted

Don't keep stretching the cushion to correct it.

Lift the uneven section back out of the groove, straighten the cushion, and gradually fit it back into place.
