HT5009: Add Second Headphones – Avantree Support

Connect a second pair of Bluetooth headphones to your HT5009 transmitter so two people can listen to the TV at the same time.

Connect the original HT5009 headphones first

Turn on the transmitter and original headphones, then wait for them to connect before adding Headphone 2.

Confirm the connection:
The A indicator on the transmitter should be solid, and the original headphones should show a solid blue LED.

Add the Second Headphones

Keep the second headphones close to the transmitter while pairing.

Put the transmitter into pairing mode

Press and hold the Bluetooth / pairing button on the transmitter for about 2 seconds.

Release the button when the transmitter indicator begins flashing green and white.

Flashing green / white = Pairing

Put the second headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode

Turn on the second pair of headphones and manually place them into Bluetooth pairing mode.

If using Avantree Audition headphones: slide and hold the power switch toward PAIR for about 2 seconds, until the LED flashes red and blue.

Flashing red / blue = Pairing

If you're using another brand, follow that headphone's instructions for entering pairing mode. Simply turning the headphones on may not put them into pairing mode.

Keep them close and wait

Keep the second headphones close to the HT5009 transmitter while they connect. You do not need to open a Bluetooth menu on your TV.

Pairing is complete when the B indicator on the transmitter turns solid white.

Both pairs of headphones can now listen to the TV audio at the same time.

Tip for reconnecting later

The original HT5009 headphones and transmitter are pre-paired and locked together. For the most reliable reconnection, turn on the original HT5009 headphones first, wait for them to connect, and then turn on the second pair.

Using a different brand of Bluetooth headphones?

You can pair another compatible Bluetooth headset as the second pair. Pairing steps vary by brand and model. For easier pairing, temporarily turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones, tablets, computers, TVs, or other devices that may automatically reconnect to those headphones.

Pairing Not Working?

Select the problem that best matches what you see.

The second headphones won't enter pairing mode

Turning the headphones on does not necessarily put them into pairing mode. Check the headphone manufacturer's instructions for the exact pairing procedure.

If they automatically reconnect to another device, temporarily turn Bluetooth off on that phone, tablet, computer, or TV and try again.

The transmitter is not flashing green and white

Make sure the HT5009 transmitter is powered on.
Make sure the original HT5009 headphones are already connected.
Press and hold the Bluetooth / pairing button for about 2 seconds.
Release it when the indicator begins flashing green and white.

Both devices are pairing, but they won't connect

Move the second headphones closer to the transmitter.
Temporarily turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones, TVs, tablets, computers, and speakers.
Turn the second headphones off and back on.
Put the transmitter back into pairing mode.
Put the second headphones back into pairing mode and wait again.

A nearby device may reconnect to the second headphones before the HT5009 gets a chance to pair with them.

The original HT5009 headphones are not connected

Reconnect the original headphones first. Once the original HT5009 headphones are connected, try adding the second pair again.

The second headphones connected before, but won't reconnect

Try this power-on order:

Turn on the HT5009 transmitter.
Turn on the original HT5009 headphones first.
Wait for the original headphones to connect.
Then turn on the second headphones.
