Use TV Speakers and Headphones at the Same Time
Whether the TV's built-in speakers can stay on while using Duet Aura depends on the TV's audio output settings.
Your TV Determines Whether This Is Possible
Some TVs can play through the built-in speakers and an external audio output at the same time. Others automatically turn the TV speakers off when Optical, HDMI ARC, or another external output is selected. The Duet Aura transmitter cannot change this TV behavior.
Check Your TV Settings
Try this first if you want to keep using the TV's built-in speakers.
Open the TV Sound Settings
Go to Settings → Sound / Audio / Sound Output.
Look for a Dual-Output Setting
If your TV provides one, turn it on.
Test Both
Play a TV program and check whether sound comes from both the TV speakers and the Duet Aura headphones.
You're Done
Your TV supports simultaneous output. No additional workaround is needed.
This Is a TV Limitation
If the TV disables its built-in speakers when an external audio output is active, Duet Aura cannot force the built-in speakers to stay on.
Alternative: Use an External Speaker or Soundbar
If your TV cannot use its built-in speakers at the same time, Duet Aura supports Optical and AUX audio pass-through for an external speaker or soundbar.
Optical and AUX pass-through are supported. HDMI ARC pass-through for external speakers is not supported.
Using Optical? Check the Digital Audio Format
If you are using Optical and there is no sound through the headphones, set the TV's Digital Audio Format to PCM.
PCM helps the transmitter receive a compatible digital audio signal, but it does not control whether the TV's built-in speakers remain on.
