Audition 3 – How to Replace the Ear Cushions

If your Audition 3 ear cushions are worn, peeling, or damaged, follow these steps to replace them.

Good to Know

The same Audition 3 headphones are also included with the HT5009 Plus and HT41899 Plus 2 sets.

Need Replacement Ear Cushions?

Make sure you are using replacement cushions designed for the Audition 3.

Before You Start

You will need:

Your Audition 3 headphones
A replacement pair of Audition 3 ear cushions

Tip: Work on one side at a time.

Step 1 – Remove the Old Ear Cushion

Hold the headphone earcup with one hand.

Gently pull one small section of the old cushion away from the earcup.
Continue around the edge until the cushion comes off.
Do not pull hard on the headphone itself.

Tip: Start at one small section and slowly work your way around.

Step 2 – Check Left and Right

Look for the L and R markings.

L = Left

R = Right

Match each replacement cushion to the correct side.

Step 3 – Start Attaching the New Cushion

Look at the thin edge on the back of the new cushion. This edge fits around the rim of the earcup.

Start with one small section.
Place that section over the edge of the earcup.
Gently push it into place and hold it with your fingers.

Important: Do not try to push the whole cushion on at once.

Step 4 – Work Around the Ear Cup

Continue moving around the earcup a little at a time.

Push → Hold → Move to the next section

Continue until the entire cushion edge is attached. If one section comes loose, go back and gently press it into place.

Step 5 – Check the Fit

Look all the way around the earcup and make sure:

The entire cushion edge is attached.
No part is hanging loose.
The cushion sits flat.
The cushion is not twisted.

Gently run your finger around the edge to make sure it is secure.

Step 6 – Position the Seam at the Bottom

Slowly rotate the cushion until the seam is centered at the bottom of the earcup.

Then repeat the same steps for the other side.

Cushion Will Not Stay On?

One Section Keeps Coming Loose?

Do not remove the whole cushion. Hold the sections already attached, then gently push the loose section back into place.

Cushion Does Not Seem to Fit?

Check that you are using the correct Audition 3 replacement cushion and that the Left and Right cushions are on the correct sides. Do not force the cushion onto the headphone.

How Do I Know It Is Installed Correctly?

✓ Cushion sits flat around the entire earcup

✓ No loose edges

✓ Seam is positioned at the bottom
