HT4186-Q – How to Add a Second Pair of Headphones
Connect two pairs of Bluetooth headphones to the Audikast-3 transmitter and listen to the TV together.
Important: Connect the original NB16-Q headphones first. Keep them on and connected while you add the second headphones.
Before You Start
Turn OFF your TV and Bluetooth on nearby phones, tablets, and computers. Turn ON the Audikast-3 transmitter. Keep both pairs of headphones close to the transmitter.
Step 1 – Connect the Original NB16-Q First
- Turn ON the original NB16-Q headphones.
- Wait for the headphones to reconnect to the Audikast-3 transmitter.
Solid BLUE = Connected. Keep the original headphones ON and connected.
Step 2 – Put the Second Headphones in Pairing Mode
Put the second headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode.
Simply turning the headphones ON is not enough.
For many Avantree headphones, look and listen for:
Flashing RED & BLUE = Bluetooth pairing mode

Step 3 – Pair and Connect the Second Headphones
- On the transmitter, press and hold the 2 button until the indicator next to 2 flashes red and blue.
Flashing RED & BLUE = Ready to pair
- Keep the second headphones close to the transmitter.
- Wait for them to connect.
1 = Solid BLUE 2 = Solid BLUE. Both pairs are connected. Turn your TV back ON, play something, and test both pairs.
How to Reconnect Both Pairs Next Time
- Turn ON the transmitter and the original NB16-Q headphones.
- Wait until 1 is solid BLUE.
- Turn ON the second headphones. Wait 5–10 seconds for 2 to become solid BLUE.
If they do not reconnect, press the 2 button on the transmitter. Wait 5–10 seconds.
Something Doesn't Look Right?
Second Headphones Will Not Connect
- Keep the original NB16-Q on and connected.
- Make sure the second headphones are in Bluetooth pairing mode, not simply on.
- Make sure the transmitter's 2 indicator is flashing red and blue.
- Turn Bluetooth off on nearby devices that have used the second headphones.
- Move the second headphones close to the transmitter. Then repeat Steps 2 and 3.
Use Only the Second Headphones
- Turn on the transmitter and the original NB16-Q. Wait for them to connect.
- Turn on the second headphones. Wait for them to connect.
- Turn off the original NB16-Q.
Choosing a Second Pair
For low audio delay in dual-headphone mode, Avantree recommends another NB16-Q. It supports aptX Low Latency with the HT4186-Q transmitter.
Avantree also recommends the Audition 3.
Some combinations of true wireless earbuds may be less reliable in dual-headphone mode. Test each pair separately first.
