How to Fix Short Range, Static, or Audio Cutting Out
Use these steps if your wireless audio cuts in and out, sounds static or choppy, or only works at a short distance.
Step 1 – Test the Devices Close Together
- Move the headphones, earbuds, or speaker close to the transmitter.
- Play audio for a few minutes.
- Check whether the sound becomes stable.
Step 2 – Move the Transmitter Away from Wireless Devices
When possible, keep the Avantree transmitter at least 3–5 ft / 1–1.5 m away from nearby wireless equipment.
Common sources of interference:
- Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Bluetooth speakers, headphones, keyboards, and mice
- Smart TVs, streaming boxes, and wireless game controllers
- Wireless security cameras and cordless phones
- Microwave ovens and other wireless transmitters
Step 3 – Remove Obstacles
Keep the path between the transmitter and your headphones or speaker as open as possible.
Avoid placing the transmitter:
- Behind the TV or inside a cabinet
- Behind large furniture or on the floor
- Next to large metal objects or other electronics
Step 4 – Turn Off Unneeded Bluetooth Devices
Temporarily turn OFF Bluetooth on nearby phones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs, then test the Avantree connection again. This helps prevent your headphones or speaker from reconnecting to another device.
Step 5 – Restart and Test Again
- Turn OFF the Avantree transmitter.
- Turn OFF the headphones, earbuds, or speaker.
- Wait about 10 seconds.
- Turn the transmitter back ON.
- Turn the headphones, earbuds, or speaker back ON.
- Wait for them to reconnect, then test the audio again.
