Use TC417 in RX (Receiver) Mode

RX mode lets your Avantree TC417 receive Bluetooth audio from a phone or another Bluetooth-enabled device and play it through a wired speaker.

Follow these 4 simple steps to complete the setup.

STEP 1 OF 4

Set TC417 to RX Mode

Locate the TX / RX switch on your TC417.

Slide the switch to RX.

Expected LED Indicator

Flashing BLUE

The LED should flash blue when TC417 is in RX mode.

What Does RX Mean?

RX means Receiver. In this mode, TC417 receives Bluetooth audio from your phone and sends it to a wired speaker.

Put TC417 into Bluetooth Pairing Mode

The pairing process depends on whether you have used your TC417 before.

First-Time Use

If your TC417 is brand new, it should automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode when you turn it on.

Previously Used TC417

Press and hold the PAIR button for 2 seconds to manually activate pairing mode.

Connect Your Phone to TC417

Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone or mobile device.

Turn on Bluetooth.
Search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
Select Avantree TC417 from the available devices list.
Wait for the connection to complete.

Look for this Bluetooth device name:

Avantree TC417

Select it to connect.

Successful Connection Indicator

Solid BLUE

The LED stops flashing and remains solid blue when your phone is connected.

Connect Your Wired Speaker

Connect your wired speaker to the audio output on the back of TC417.

Choose the connection supported by your speaker.

OPTICAL SPDIF OUT AUX 3.5mm

Option 1: Digital Optical

Locate the port labeled SPDIF OUT on your TC417.
Connect an optical audio cable from TC417's SPDIF OUT to your speaker's compatible optical input.
Select the corresponding optical input on your speaker, if required.

Important

In RX mode, use SPDIF OUT on TC417.

Option 2: 3.5mm AUX

Locate the 3.5mm audio port on your TC417.
Connect a 3.5mm AUX cable between TC417 and your speaker's AUX audio input.
Select AUX as the input on your speaker, if required.

Setup Complete!

Your phone is now connected to TC417 through Bluetooth, and TC417 is connected to your wired speaker.

Play audio on your phone to test the connection.

What Is RX Receiver Mode?

RX mode allows TC417 to receive audio wirelessly from a Bluetooth-enabled device, such as a phone.

TC417 then outputs that audio to a wired speaker through its optical or AUX connection.

What Bluetooth Name Should I Look For?

Look for Avantree TC417 in your phone's Bluetooth menu.

Why Is the LED Flashing Red and Blue?

Rapidly flashing red and blue indicates that TC417 is in Bluetooth pairing mode and ready to connect.

How Do I Know My Phone Is Connected?

Once the connection succeeds, the LED stops flashing and becomes solid blue.

Which Audio Output Should I Use for My Speaker?

You can use either Digital Optical (SPDIF OUT) or 3.5mm AUX, depending on the connections supported by your wired speaker.

My Phone Is Connected but I Hear No Sound. What Should I Check?

First, confirm that the TC417 LED is solid blue.

Then check that the audio cable is connected to the correct output on TC417 and the corresponding input on your speaker.

Make sure your speaker is powered on, set to the correct input, and its volume is turned up.
