Connect TC417 to Your TV / Audio Source
Follow these 3 simple steps to connect your Avantree TC417 to your TV or another audio source.
You will identify your TV's audio output, connect power, and choose the correct audio cable.
Find Your TV's Audio Output
Look at the back or side of your TV. Find one of the following audio output ports:

If using red and white RCA ports, they must be labeled Audio OUT.
RCA ports labeled Audio IN will not provide TV audio to TC417.
If your TV has a Digital Optical audio output, choose that option. It is the recommended connection in Avantree's original TC417 setup guide.
Connect TC417 to Power
Plug the provided USB power cable into the DC IN port on your TC417.
Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power source.
Use a compatible USB power source within this specification.
The original TC417 article states that a USB wall power adapter is not included.
If you need one, contact support@avantree.com . The original article offers US, EU, or UK adapters upon request.
Connect TC417 to Your TV
Choose the audio connection that matches the output port on your TV.
Select one option below to view the connection instructions and original wiring diagram.
Option 1: Digital Optical (Recommended)
Use this option if your TV has a Digital Optical, SPDIF, or TOSLINK output.
- Locate the Digital Optical OUT port on your TV.
- Connect an optical audio cable from the TV's Optical OUT to the corresponding optical audio input on TC417.
- Ensure both ends of the cable are securely connected.

If you later experience no sound through your Bluetooth headphones, check whether your TV's Digital Audio Output setting needs to be changed to PCM.
Option 2: 3.5mm AUX / Headphone
Use this option if your TV has a 3.5mm Headphone or AUX audio output.
- Locate the TV's Headphone / Audio OUT port.
- Connect a 3.5mm AUX audio cable from the TV's output to the corresponding AUX audio input on TC417.
- Make sure the cable is fully inserted at both ends.

Some TVs automatically switch audio to the headphone output when a 3.5mm cable is connected.
Option 3: Red / White RCA
Use this option if your TV has red and white RCA ports labeled Audio OUT.
- Locate the red and white Audio OUT ports on your TV.
- Connect the RCA cable to the matching TV outputs: Red to Red and White to White.
- Connect the other end through the corresponding AUX audio connection on TC417.

Only use RCA ports labeled Audio OUT. Red and white ports labeled Audio IN cannot send audio from your TV to TC417.
Once TC417 is powered and connected to your TV, continue to Step 2 of the setup: pairing your Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

Which TV Audio Connection Is Recommended?
Digital Optical (SPDIF / TOSLINK) is the recommended connection in Avantree's original TC417 setup guide.
If your TV does not have an optical output, you can use its 3.5mm headphone output or red/white RCA Audio OUT ports.
Can I Use the TV's USB Port to Power TC417?
Yes, provided the USB port supplies suitable power.
TC417 requires a 5V, 0.5A–2A USB power source.
Avantree recommends using the TV USB port because TC417 may then power on and off automatically with your TV.
Can I Use the Red and White RCA Ports?
Yes, if the ports are labeled Audio OUT.
Ports labeled Audio IN cannot provide the audio signal needed by TC417.
What If My TV Has No Optical Output?
Check whether your TV has a 3.5mm headphone output or red and white RCA Audio OUT ports.
Select the matching connection option in Step 3 above.

If using an optical connection, check your TV's audio output settings. Some TVs need the Digital Audio Output format set to PCM.
