Why do I notice audio delay with Bluetooth Auracast?

Auracast (Bluetooth LE Audio) has a small amount of audio latency. With current firmware, this is typically around 40–60 ms.

You may notice it more when you can hear both:

• the live sound directly from the person or PA speaker, and
• the same sound through Auracast a moment later.

This can create a slight echo effect, especially in smaller rooms.

How can I reduce it now?

For hearing aid users:
If possible, reduce the environmental sound picked up by your hearing aid microphones while keeping the Auracast streamed audio at a comfortable level. This reduces the overlap between the direct sound and streamed sound.

For headphone users:
Over-ear headphones with good sound isolation can also reduce the amount of direct room sound you hear.

Sitting farther from the main PA speakers may also make the delay less noticeable.

Lower latency is coming

We are scheduled to release a new firmware update in October 2026 with two listening options:

• Latency Priority — reduces latency to under 40 ms
• Range Priority — prioritizes longer and more stable wireless coverage

If you are close to the speaker or PA system and notice an echo, we recommend using Latency Priority once the new firmware is available.
