Audikast 4 / 4HA + Soundbar

First, Check How Your Soundbar Connects to the TV

The correct setup depends on whether your soundbar uses Optical or HDMI ARC / eARC. Choose the connection that looks like yours.

Start here: Look at the cable between your TV and soundbar

You do not need to know the technical terms. Match the cable and TV port to Option A or Option B below.

OPTION A

Example of a TV Optical Digital Audio Out port

Optical / TOSLINK

A small square-shaped port usually labeled DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL), OPTICAL, or TOSLINK.

HDMI ARC / eARC

A flat HDMI cable connected to a TV HDMI port specifically labeled ARC or eARC.

Look at the cable connecting your soundbar to the TV and compare it with these descriptions:

Optical

A small square-shaped plug connected to a port labeled DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL), OPTICAL, or TOSLINK.

HDMI ARC / eARC

A flat HDMI plug connected to an HDMI port specifically labeled ARC or eARC.

Soundbar Connected by Optical

Use an Optical splitter so the TV can send the same audio to both your soundbar and Audikast 4 / 4HA.

What you'll need

1 Optical splitter

1 additional Optical cable for the second connection

Setup Steps

Disconnect the Optical cable currently connecting your TV directly to the soundbar.

Connect the TV's DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) to the input of the Optical splitter.

Connect one Optical splitter output to the Optical input on your soundbar.

Using the additional Optical cable, connect the second splitter output to OPTICAL IN on Audikast 4 / 4HA.

When everything is connected correctly:

Soundbar plays TV audio.

Audikast receives the same TV audio.

Headphones / hearing aids receive sound.

Both receive audio from the same TV source.

Soundbar Connected by HDMI ARC / eARC

Use the Avantree HAX06 to keep your soundbar connected through HDMI while also sending Optical audio to Audikast 4 / 4HA.

What you'll need

1 Avantree HAX06 HDMI ARC Audio Extractor

1 additional HDMI cable for the HAX06-to-soundbar connection

Setup Steps

Connect the TV's HDMI ARC / eARC port to HDMI ARC IN on the HAX06.

Using the additional HDMI cable, connect HDMI ARC OUT on the HAX06 to the HDMI ARC input on your soundbar.

Connect OPT OUT on the HAX06 to OPTICAL IN on Audikast 4 / 4HA.

Power on the TV, soundbar, HAX06, and Audikast 4 / 4HA.

Important HAX06 / TV Settings

HAX06 BYPASS

Make sure BYPASS is enabled.

BYPASS → ON

TV eARC

If the setup does not work while eARC is enabled, switch the TV to standard ARC mode.

eARC → OFF, if needed

When everything is connected correctly:

Soundbar receives TV audio through HDMI ARC.

Audikast receives TV audio through Optical.

Headphones / hearing aids receive sound.

Soundbar remains connected to the TV.

No sound from Audikast 4 / 4HA?

Check your TV's Sound / Audio settings and try: Digital Audio Output / Digital Audio Format → PCM PCM is commonly required for Optical audio to work correctly with the Audikast transmitter.
