This depends on your TV’s audio output settings, not the Avantree headphones or transmitter.
Some TVs automatically turn off the built-in speakers when audio is sent to Optical or external devices.
Quick Check
1. Go to TV Settings → Sound / Sound Output.
2. Look for a setting such as:
• Dual Audio Output
• TV Speaker + Optical
Turn it ON if available.
3. If you don’t see these options or they don’t work, try this workaround:
Set Sound Output = TV Speaker
Connect the Avantree transmitter to TV Optical OUT
Set Digital Audio Format = PCM
✅ On many TVs (Samsung, Fire TV, TCL, Sony, etc.), this allows both TV speakers and headphones to play at the same time.
Why This Sometimes Doesn’t Work
Some TVs automatically disable the built-in speakers when Optical or External Speaker output is selected.
This is normal TV behavior and cannot be controlled by the Avantree device.
If Your TV Does NOT Support Dual Audio
Most TVs will only output audio to one device at a time.
Workaround
Use an external speaker (such as a soundbar) together with the headphones.
Example setup
- 1. Connect TV Optical OUT → Bluetooth transmitter.
- 2. Connect transmitter Optical OUT → soundbar.
- 3. Pair your Bluetooth headphones to the transmitter.
✅ Result
● Headphones receive Bluetooth audio.
● Soundbar plays the same TV sound.
Transmitters with optical pass-through allow audio to go to both headphones and an external speaker simultaneously.
💡Tip:
For best compatibility, make sure Digital Audio Format is set to PCM, not Dolby or DTS.
