Orbit (TC580): Enable Volume Adjustment for Hearing Aids & Bluetooth Speakers

Unable to adjust the volume of your hearing aids or Bluetooth speakers using the Avantree Orbit?

This optional V5.11 firmware patch is intended to enable volume adjustment from Orbit for affected devices that do not support AVRCP/Bluetooth remote volume control.

Follow the instructions below to download and install the patch.

Purpose: Enable Orbit-side volume adjustment for affected hearing aids and Bluetooth speakers.

Important: Contact Avantree Support Before Updating

Do not install this firmware patch without consulting Avantree Support first.

An incorrect firmware update may make your device unusable. Device failure caused by DFU misoperation without prior consultation with technical support may not be covered by warranty.

Only install this patch on Orbit (TC580). Do not use it with Orbit Pro or another model.

Download the V5.11 Firmware Patch

Download the firmware file for Avantree Orbit (TC580).

DOWNLOAD ORBIT V5.11 FIRMWARE

Remember: Save the .dfu file somewhere easy to find, such as your Downloads folder. You will need to select this file during the firmware update.

Connect Orbit to Your Computer

Connect Orbit to a Windows PC or Mac using a USB Type-C cable that supports data transfer.

For units after LOT 20L2: Use the gray USB Type-C charging and data cable included with Orbit.

For units before LOT 20L2: The original cable included in the box does not support data transfer. Use a separate USB data cable.

Enter Firmware Update (DFU) Mode

Turn on Orbit.

Press and hold the Search and Connect buttons simultaneously for approximately 7 seconds.

HOLD BOTH FOR ABOUT 7 SECONDS

Next: Confirm that Orbit has entered DFU mode using the LED or LCD indication described in Step 4.

Confirm Orbit Is in DFU Mode

The DFU indicator depends on your Orbit's manufacturing batch.

Select the option that matches your LOT number.

After LOT 20L2

The LED on the bottom of Orbit should turn solid white after you hold both buttons for approximately 7 seconds.

Solid WHITE LED

A solid white LED indicates that Orbit has entered DFU mode.

Before LOT 20L2

The LCD briefly displays Avantree for approximately 2 seconds.

Avantree

The word then disappears, leaving the LCD screen bright but blank.

Bright, blank screen

A bright, blank LCD indicates that this earlier Orbit batch has entered DFU mode.

Important: Do not proceed with the update unless the correct DFU indication appears.

Install the Firmware on Your Computer

Once Orbit has entered DFU mode, select the guide for your computer.

Windows PC

Use CSR BlueSuite and the DFUWizard application to install the firmware.

Mac Computer

Use the Avantree Updater application to install the firmware file.

The Mac guide explains how to install the updater and complete the firmware update.

MAC UPDATE GUIDE

When prompted to select a firmware file: Choose the Orbit V5.11 .dfu file downloaded in Step 1.

Do Not Disconnect During the Update

Keep Orbit connected to your computer until the firmware updater confirms that the process has completed successfully.

Restart Orbit and Test the Volume

Firmware Update Complete

Once the updater confirms that the firmware was installed successfully, disconnect Orbit from your computer.

Restart Orbit and reconnect your hearing aids or Bluetooth speakers.

Play audio and try adjusting the volume using Orbit.

Expected result: The V5.11 patch is intended to enable volume adjustment from Orbit for affected hearing aids and Bluetooth speakers.

Update Not Working or Volume Still Cannot Be Adjusted?

Computer does not detect Orbit: Confirm that the USB Type-C cable supports data transfer.
Unable to enter DFU mode: Hold Search and Connect together for approximately 7 seconds. Check the correct LED or LCD indication for your LOT number.
Firmware file is not recognized: Confirm that you downloaded the V5.11 .dfu file intended for Orbit (TC580).
Volume adjustment still does not work: Restart Orbit, reconnect your hearing aids or Bluetooth speakers, and test again.
Firmware update failed: Stop and contact Avantree Support before attempting another update.
