How Does the Grouping Function Work?

Grouping keeps your Avantree receivers connected to the correct transmitter.

Normally, an Auracast receiver may join the strongest available broadcast nearby. When Grouping is set up, your Avantree receivers remember their assigned transmitter and automatically return to that transmitter when powered on.

Why Use Grouping?

Grouping is especially helpful when you have more than one Auracast system in the same location.

• Multiple rooms: Keep Classroom A receivers with Classroom A.
• Multiple languages: Keep English receivers on the English broadcast and Spanish receivers on the Spanish broadcast.
• Nearby systems: Help prevent receivers from accidentally joining the wrong transmitter.
• Easier daily use: Staff can simply turn the receivers on — they automatically return to their assigned system.

Do I Need Grouping?

If you only have one transmitter in the area, you usually do not need to set up Grouping. Your receivers can simply turn on and join the available broadcast.

Grouping is most useful when you have two or more transmitters operating near each other.

How Do I Set Up a Group?

Grouping is configured using the Avantree Updater. With your receivers powered on and connected to the intended broadcast:

1. Give the transmitter a unique broadcast name and password.
2. Select “Synchronize to supported Avantree Rx”.
3. Apply the settings.

That's it. The supported Avantree receivers will remember that transmitter and automatically return to it when they are powered on.

Example:
Church Sanctuary → Transmitter A → Sanctuary Receivers
Fellowship Hall → Transmitter B → Fellowship Hall Receivers

Even if both systems are operating nearby, each group of receivers knows which transmitter it should return to.
