Audio Delay Troubleshooting

Fix Audio Lag with Your Transmitter

Check your Bluetooth connection and reduce audio delay.

Before You Start

Audio delay can happen when your transmitter and headphones are using standard Bluetooth audio instead of a compatible low-latency connection.

Make sure your headphones or speakers are connected directly to the transmitter.
Keep the transmitter and headphones close together while testing.
Turn off Bluetooth on nearby devices that may automatically connect to your headphones.

Check Your Headphones or Speakers

Check whether your headphones or speakers support a low-latency Bluetooth technology.

Look for one of these:

aptX Low Latency (aptX LL)
aptX Adaptive
LE Audio / Auracast

Important: The transmitter and your headphones or speakers must support compatible low-latency technology.

Check the Transmitter Connection

Some Avantree transmitters show which Bluetooth codec or connection mode is being used.

What to check:

Check your transmitter manual to see whether the connection is using a supported low-latency technology, such as aptX Low Latency, aptX Adaptive, or LE Audio / Auracast.

Note: LED colors and connection indicators vary by transmitter model.

3	Reduce Wireless Interference Move the transmitter closer to your headphones or speakers. Keep the transmitter away from: Wi-Fi routers Other Bluetooth devices Wireless equipment Large obstacles or walls Test the audio again after moving the devices closer together.

Check Bluetooth Compatibility

A Bluetooth transmitter cannot create a low-latency connection by itself. Both devices must support compatible low-latency technology.

Compatible

Transmitter: aptX Low Latency

Headphones: aptX Low Latency

Result: Low-latency audio can be used.

Standard Bluetooth

Transmitter: aptX Low Latency

Headphones: SBC or AAC only

Result: Standard Bluetooth audio is used, and more delay may be noticeable.

Using AirPods or Apple Headphones?

AirPods do not support aptX Low Latency or aptX Adaptive. When used with a traditional Bluetooth transmitter, more audio delay may be noticeable than with headphones designed for low-latency TV listening.

Remember This

For the lowest possible audio delay, your transmitter and headphones or speakers must support compatible low-latency Bluetooth technology.

Still Have Audio Lag?

Try pairing the headphones with the transmitter again:

Turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones, tablets, and computers that have previously connected to your headphones.
Restart the transmitter and headphones.
Pair the headphones directly with the transmitter again.
