Aura Loop (Dual) – Use Auracast Hearing Aids with the Transmitter
Compatible Auracast hearing aids can connect after the transmitter is changed from Headphone Mode to Hearing Aid Mode.
Important
Your hearing aids must support Auracast. Regular Bluetooth hearing aids without Auracast cannot connect directly to the Aura Loop transmitter.
Before You Start – Check Your Hearing Aids
Check your hearing aid manual, manufacturer’s website, or hearing aid App. Look for Auracast or Bluetooth LE Audio / Auracast.
If Auracast is not supported, your hearing aids cannot connect directly using this method.
Which Transmitter Mode Should I Use?
Headphone Mode – V0.2.7
Use Headphone Mode if:
- You primarily use Aura Loop earbuds.
- You want the best available audio quality.
Hearing Aid Mode – V0.2.6
Switch to Hearing Aid Mode only if:
- You plan to use Auracast-compatible hearing aids.
Step 1 – Connect the Transmitter and Download the Updater
- Use the long USB-C cable with the gray connector to connect the Aura Loop transmitter to a Windows PC or Mac.
- Download and install the Avantree Firmware Updater.
- Open the Firmware Updater.
Step 2 – Detect the Transmitter and Install Hearing Aid Mode
- Wait for the Firmware Updater to automatically detect the connected Aura Loop transmitter.
- Select V0.2.6 – For Hearing Aids.
- Start the firmware update.
- Wait until the Updater confirms that the installation is complete.
Step 4 – Connect Your Hearing Aids and Test the TV Sound
- Turn on your hearing aids.
- Open their Auracast search or Auracast Assistant function.
- Search for available Auracast broadcasts.
- Select the Aura Loop broadcast.
- Play something on your TV.
- Listen through your hearing aids. If you hear the TV, setup is complete.
Depending on your hearing aids, use the manufacturer’s App, your phone’s Auracast Assistant, or the hearing aid’s own Auracast controls.
Can I Still Use the Aura Loop Earbuds?
Yes. In Hearing Aid Mode, compatible Auracast hearing aids and Aura Loop earbuds can both join the broadcast. Audio quality may be lower than in Headphone Mode.
Want to Switch Back to Headphone Mode?
- Connect the transmitter to your computer.
- Open the Avantree Firmware Updater.
- Select V0.2.7 – For Headphones.
Use Headphone Mode when you mainly use Aura Loop earbuds and want the best available audio quality.
Something Doesn’t Look Right?
Hearing Aids Do Not Appear
- Confirm the hearing aids support Auracast.
- Make sure the transmitter is ON.
- Confirm the transmitter is running V0.2.6.
- Put the hearing aids into Auracast search mode.
- Keep them close to the transmitter and search again.
Hearing Aids Have Bluetooth but No Auracast Option
Bluetooth hearing aids are not automatically Auracast-compatible. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for Auracast or Bluetooth LE Audio / Auracast.
Firmware Updater Does Not Detect the Transmitter
- Reconnect the USB-C cable.
- Make sure it is fully inserted.
- Try another USB port.
- Close and reopen the Firmware Updater.
- Reconnect the transmitter.
Audio Quality Sounds Different
This can be normal. Hearing Aid Mode may provide lower audio quality than Headphone Mode. If you only use Aura Loop earbuds, reinstall V0.2.7 – For Headphones.
Important Compatibility Note
Starkey hearing aids are currently not supported. Support may be added through a future firmware update.
