Opera Aura – Use Headphones and a Soundbar at the Same Time

Using HDMI ARC with a Soundbar? Opera Aura works with your TV’s HDMI ARC port for headphone audio. If you also want to use a soundbar at the same time, choose the matching setup below. An Avantree HAX06 is only needed when your setup requires HDMI ARC audio to be shared or converted.

Which Setup Do You Have?

SETUP 1

TV and Soundbar Both Use HDMI ARC

You will need: Avantree HAX06 HDMI ARC Audio Extractor.

Connect the Devices

TV HDMI ARC → HAX06 ARC IN

HAX06 ARC OUT → Soundbar HDMI ARC

HAX06 Optical OUT → Opera Aura OPT IN

Required Settings

Set the HAX06 Bypass switch to ON.
Turn eARC OFF in the TV audio settings.
If the headphones have no sound, set Digital Audio Output to PCM.

SETUP 2

TV Uses HDMI ARC and Soundbar Uses Optical

You will need: Avantree HAX06 HDMI ARC Audio Extractor.

Connect the Devices

TV HDMI ARC → HAX06 → HAX06 Optical OUT → Opera Aura OPT IN → Opera Aura OPT OUT → Soundbar Optical IN

Required Settings

Turn eARC OFF in the TV audio settings.
Set Digital Audio Output to PCM.
Set the Opera Aura input selector to OPT.

SETUP 3

TV Uses Optical or AUX

No HDMI converter is needed. Use the matching Opera Aura pass-through connection.

Optical Connection

TV Optical OUT → Opera Aura OPT IN → Opera Aura OPT OUT → Soundbar Optical IN

Set the Opera Aura input selector to OPT.
Set the TV’s Digital Audio Output to PCM.

AUX Connection

TV AUX OUT → Opera Aura AUX IN → Opera Aura AUX OUT → Soundbar AUX IN

Set the Opera Aura input selector to AUX.
Select Headphones / Audio Out on the TV and turn up the TV volume.

Do not mix connection types.
Use OPT IN → OPT OUT or AUX IN → AUX OUT. An Optical input cannot pass through the AUX output, and an AUX input cannot pass through the Optical output.

Still No Sound?

Check that all cables are fully connected and that the input selected on the Opera Aura matches the cable being used. For Optical audio, confirm that the TV is set to PCM.
