Can I Connect My Avantree Headphones Directly to My Smart TV?

Yes, if your TV supports Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth audio. If your Avantree headphones came with a transmitter or charging base, we recommend using the transmitter for normal TV watching.

Use the Avantree Transmitter

If your headphones came with an Avantree transmitter or base, we recommend using it for a more stable connection, longer range, less audio delay, and easier automatic reconnection.

Connect Directly to Your Smart TV

Choose this if you want to use your Avantree headphones without the transmitter.

Before you start:
Your TV must support Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth audio. Some Smart TVs use Bluetooth for the remote control but do not support Bluetooth headphones.

Check Your TV Before Turning Off the Transmitter

No Bluetooth headphone support on your TV?
Keep using the Avantree transmitter.

Depending on your Avantree model, the transmitter may connect to your TV using:

Use whichever connection is supported by both your TV and your Avantree transmitter.

Only turn the transmitter OFF if you want to pair the headphones directly with your TV's built-in Bluetooth.

If the base also charges your headphones: You can normally leave the base connected to power. Turn off the transmitter function when pairing directly with the TV.

Open Bluetooth Settings on Your TV

Use your TV remote. Select your TV brand below to see where to find the Bluetooth settings.

Samsung TV

Using your Samsung TV remote, go to:

Home → Settings → Sound → Sound Output → Bluetooth Speaker List

Your TV should begin searching for nearby Bluetooth devices.

LG TV

Using your LG TV remote, go to:

Settings → All Settings → Sound → Sound Out → Bluetooth Device

On some LG TVs, the wording may be different.

Roku TV

Using your Roku TV remote, go to:

Settings → Remotes & devices

Look for Bluetooth or Wireless Headphones.

Don't see a Bluetooth headphone option?
Your Roku TV may not support Bluetooth headphones directly. Use your Avantree transmitter instead.

Hisense TV

Using your Hisense TV remote, go to:

Settings → Sound

Settings → Remotes & Accessories

Select Bluetooth, Bluetooth Device List, or Add Device.

Fire TV

Using your Fire TV remote, go to:

Settings → Controllers & Bluetooth Devices → Other Bluetooth Devices → Add Bluetooth Devices

Sony TV

Using your Sony TV remote, go to:

Settings → Bluetooth

Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth

Select Add Device or Pair New Device.

TCL TV

Using your TCL TV remote, go to:

Settings → Remotes & Accessories

Settings → Remotes & Devices

Look for Pair Accessory, Add Device, or Bluetooth.

Vizio TV

Using your Vizio TV remote, go to:

Menu / Settings → Sound → Bluetooth

Look for Bluetooth Pairing or a similar option.

Philips TV

Using your Philips TV remote, go to:

Settings → Sound → Bluetooth

Look for Bluetooth Audio Devices or Add Device.

Can't find the exact menu?
TV menus vary by model. Look for Bluetooth, Headphones, or Audio Output settings. Still can't find it? Check your TV's manual.

3. Put the Avantree Headphones Into Pairing Mode

Important: Turning the headphones ON is not always the same as putting them into pairing mode.

Put your Avantree headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode.

You may see:

RED and BLUE lights flashing

You may hear:

“Pairing”

Keep the headphones close to the TV. A distance of about 1–3 feet (30–90 cm) is recommended.

4. Select the Headphones on Your TV

Look at the Bluetooth device list on your TV.
Select the name of your Avantree headphones.
Select Pair or Connect.
Wait a few seconds for the connection to complete.
Play a TV program and check for sound.

Something Doesn't Look Right?

Select the problem that matches what you are seeing.

Headphones Don't Appear on the TV?

Try these checks in order:

Make sure the Avantree transmitter is OFF.
Make sure the headphones are in pairing mode. Do not simply turn the headphones on.
Keep the headphones within 1–3 feet (30–90 cm) of the TV.
Turn Bluetooth OFF on nearby phones and tablets that previously used the headphones.
Turn the headphones OFF. Then put them into pairing mode again.
On the TV, select Search, Add Device, or Pair New Device again.

Wait about 10–20 seconds.

TV Finds the Headphones but Won't Connect?

Remove or Forget the headphones from the TV's Bluetooth device list.

Turn the headphones OFF.
Restart the TV.
Put the headphones into pairing mode.
Search for Bluetooth devices again.
Select your Avantree headphones.

No Bluetooth Headphone Option on the TV?

Use the Avantree transmitter that came with your headphone set.

Depending on your Avantree model, connect the transmitter to your TV using:
