Your setup depends on one thing: do you want to listen with headphones only, or keep your external speakers playing too?
Do you want your external speakers to keep playing?
Choose the option that matches what you want. You only need to follow that section.
Headphones Only
I only need sound through my Avantree headphones.
Show My Setup ↓ YesHeadphones + External Speakers
I want the headphones and my AV receiver's speakers to play together.
Show My Setup ↓Connect to the AV Receiver's PHONES Jack
Use this setup when you do not need the external speakers playing at the same time.
Find the PHONES jack
Look on the front of your AV receiver for a jack labeled PHONES.
Connect the Avantree transmitter
If your receiver uses the larger 6.35 mm / 1/4-inch PHONES jack, use a 6.35 mm male to 3.5 mm female adapter.
Your external speakers may stop playing
AV receivers normally mute their connected speakers when the PHONES jack is being used. If you need both headphones and speakers, use the next setup instead.
First, Move Your Source Devices to the TV
The TV needs to receive the audio first so it can send sound to both your Avantree setup and AV receiver.
Move HDMI source devices from the AV receiver to the TV
If a streaming device, game console, Blu-ray player, or other HDMI source is connected to the AV receiver, move its HDMI cable to the TV.
Only Watching Cable / Satellite TV? Open this if you do not use TV streaming apps such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.
If you mainly watch programs through a cable or satellite box and do not need audio from the TV's built-in streaming apps, you can take the audio directly from the cable box.

Connect directly to the cable box
Find the red and white RCA AUDIO OUT ports on your cable or satellite box.
Connect an RCA to 3.5 mm audio cable to the cable box.
Connect the 3.5 mm end to the AUX / AUDIO IN on your Avantree transmitter.
Note: This setup sends audio from the cable / satellite box directly to the Avantree transmitter. Audio from TV apps or other devices will not pass through this connection.
HDMI devices that may need to be moved
Only move the devices you actually use.

How is your AV receiver connected to the TV?
Look at the cable between the TV and AV receiver, then choose the matching setup.
Optical Cable
I use the square Optical / TOSLINK audio connection.
Show Optical Setup ↓ HDMI ARC / eARCHDMI Cable
My TV and AV receiver are connected through HDMI ARC or eARC.
Show HDMI Setup ↓Option 1: Your AV Receiver Uses Optical
Use this setup when your Avantree transmitter supports Optical Pass-Through / Bypass.
The transmitter must support Optical Pass-Through / Bypass

Set the TV's Digital Audio Output / Digital Audio Format to PCM.
Option 2: Use HAX06 for HDMI ARC / eARC
Use this setup when your AV receiver uses HDMI ARC / eARC, or when your Avantree transmitter does not support Optical Pass-Through / Bypass.

Connect TV to HAX06

HAX06 connected but no sound?
- Make sure HAX06 is connected to the TV's ARC / eARC HDMI port.
- Enable ARC / HDMI-CEC on the TV.
- If required by your setup, turn eARC OFF.
- When using Optical or RCA audio to the Avantree transmitter, set the TV audio format to PCM / Stereo.

Open only the issue that matches your setup.
My source device is still connected to the AV receiver
If you want headphones and external speakers together, move the HDMI source device to an available HDMI input on the TV.
My headphones work, but the external speakers don't
If the transmitter is connected to the AV receiver's PHONES jack, the receiver will normally mute its external speakers.
Use the Headphones + External Speakers setup above instead.
My transmitter has OPTICAL IN but no OPTICAL OUT / BYPASS
Your transmitter cannot be placed between the TV and AV receiver for Optical pass-through. Use the HAX06 setup above instead.
VIEW HAX06 →My external speakers work, but the headphones have no sound
