Avantree TV Headphones / Transmitter Troubleshooting - with Roku Stream Bar

If your Avantree transmitter and headphones aren’t producing sound when connected to your Roku Streambar, the issue isn’t with your Avantree devices — it’s due to the hardware design of the Roku Streambar.

The Roku Streambar’s audio ports are inputs, not outputs. That means it can receive sound (for example, from your TV) but cannot send audio out to another device like a Bluetooth transmitter or set of headphones.

 Why It’s Not Working

• The optical port on the Roku Streambar is for input only, so it won’t pass audio to your Avantree transmitter.
• Because the Streambar doesn’t output audio, connecting your Avantree transmitter directly to it will result in no sound.
• This is a hardware limitation set by Roku and applies to all Bluetooth transmitters — not just Avantree.

 How to Get Audio Working

Here are several ways to enjoy audio with your Avantree headphones when using a Roku Streambar:

1️⃣ Use the Roku Mobile App (Official Wireless Solution)

The easiest way to enjoy private listening is via the Roku mobile app (available for iOS and Android).

• Open the Roku app and use the “Private Listening” feature.
• This streams audio from your Roku device over Wi-Fi to your smartphone.
• Then, connect your Avantree Bluetooth headphones to your phone, or plug in wired headphones.

2️⃣ Use the Roku Voice Remote Pro’s Headphone Jack (Wired Workaround)

If you have a Roku Voice Remote Pro (the rechargeable model with a headphone jack):

• Plug your wired headphones directly into the remote for instant private listening.
• OR, to use your Avantree transmitter:
  • Plug the transmitter’s 3.5mm audio cable into the remote’s headphone jack.
  • Power on your transmitter and pair it with your Avantree Bluetooth headphones.
  • Audio from your Roku will now be transmitted wirelessly through your Avantree setup.

⚠️ Note: This method only works with Roku remotes that have a headphone jack.

3️⃣ Connect the Avantree Transmitter to Your TV Output

For most setups, the best solution is to connect your Avantree transmitter directly to your TV’s audio output, not the Roku Streambar.

• Use your TV’s optical (preferred), AUX, or RCA output.
• Adjust your TV’s Audio Output settings to match the port used.
• Pair your Avantree transmitter with your headphones.
• If your transmitter supports audio pass-through (e.g., Oasis Plus 2, Orbit Pro):
  • Connect TV Optical OUT → Avantree transmitter Optical IN

  • Connect Avantree transmitter Optical OUT (pass-through) → Roku Streambar Optical IN
    

     

• Optional: If your Smart TV has a built-in Roku app, you can stream via the TV; the transmitter will still capture the TV’s audio and pass it through to the Streambar while broadcasting to your headphones.

This way, the transmitter receives the TV audio and simultaneously forwards it to the Streambar, giving you headphones + Streambar sound together.

If your Roku and TV are connected, the most flexible option is connecting your Avantree transmitter to your TV’s audio output.

Transmitter models with pass-through (such as Oasis Plus 2 or Orbit Pro) allow you to enjoy both your Avantree headphones and your Streambar speakers simultaneously.
