Sound Cutting Out, Static, or Short Range?

Follow these checks in order. Wireless interference or something blocking the signal can cause the sound to break up or cut out.

First, try this quick test.

Stand close to the transmitter and listen again. If the sound improves when you are closer, continue with the steps below to find what may be interfering with the wireless signal.

Follow These Checks in Order

Test the sound again after each step.

Restart and Re-Pair

Refresh the connection between the headphones and transmitter.

Turn the headphones and transmitter off, then turn them back on. If the problem continues, re-pair the headphones with the transmitter.

After reconnecting, test the sound again.

If the static, audio cuts, or short range continues, go to Step 2.

Move Other Wireless Devices Away

Nearby wireless equipment can interfere with the signal.

Check the area around the Shift transmitter. Move nearby wireless devices farther away, then test the headphones again.

Wi-Fi Router Move it farther from the transmitter.

TV / Streaming Box Increase the distance between the devices.

Bluetooth Devices Move or temporarily turn off nearby devices.

Did the sound improve?

If yes, a nearby wireless device was likely interfering with the signal. Keep the devices separated during use.

Clear the Space Between You and the Transmitter

Walls and other solid objects can weaken the wireless signal.

For testing, keep the path between the headphones and transmitter as open as possible.

Walls & Solid Materials Try moving to the same room as the transmitter and test again.

People Between the Devices Human bodies can also weaken the wireless signal. Test with a clearer path to the transmitter.

Using More Than One Shift Transmitter?

Transmitters placed too close together can interfere with each other.

If you have two or more Shift transmitters nearby, increase the distance between them.

Important

The original Shift guide specifies keeping Shift transmitters at least 3 feet apart. After moving them, test the headphones again.

Test the Range Again

Start close to the transmitter, then slowly move farther away while listening. If the sound is now stable, the problem was likely caused by interference or an obstacle between the headphones and transmitter.
