To achieve the best clarity in public venues, you may need to adjust the streaming settings in your hearing aid’s companion app. Below is an example using Starkey.
In the My Starkey app:
1️⃣ Adjust the Broadcast Audio Preference
Auracast uses your personalized “For You” prescription as the baseline. You can then apply additional sound preferences on top of it:
Overall Boost + For You baseline
Treble Boost + For You baseline
Bass Boost + For You baseline
Many users prefer Overall Boost for clearer speech in churches, theaters, or public venues.
2️⃣ Adjust Microphone Mixing During Streaming
You can control how much surrounding sound is mixed with the Auracast stream:
Mute – Turns off surrounding sound for the most focused listening
Decrease – Reduces background noise while keeping some awareness
No Change – Keeps microphones fully active
In most venue situations, selecting Mute or Decrease significantly improves clarity by preventing surrounding noise from competing with the Auracast stream.
Different hearing aid brands may use different terminology, but similar settings are commonly available. With these adjustments properly set, Auracast streaming works together with your personalized hearing aid programming to deliver the clearest possible listening experience.
