E171 – How to Use

The E171 is a wired 3.5 mm earphone.

Step 1 – Check Your Device

If your device has a 3.5 mm headphone port: Plug the E171 directly into the port. Push the plug in completely, then play music, a video, or other audio.

No 3.5 mm Headphone Port?

If your phone, tablet, or computer only has USB-C or Lightning, you need a compatible audio adapter.

Connect: E171 → Audio Adapter → Your Device

Important: Make sure the adapter supports audio output. A charging-only adapter will not work.

Step 2 – Play Your Audio

Play music, a video, or other audio.
Make sure your device is not muted.
Turn up the volume.

You should now hear the audio through the E171.

Using the E171 Volume Controls

When connected to a compatible phone or tablet, use the in-line controls on the E171 to adjust the volume.

Using a PC, laptop, TV, or other device? The E171 in-line volume controls may not work. Use the volume controls on the connected device instead.

Something Doesn’t Look Right?

Sound Only Comes from One Side

Unplug the E171 and reconnect it firmly. A plug that is not inserted completely can cause one-sided or poor audio. If the problem continues, test the E171 with another compatible device.

Volume Buttons Are Not Working

If you are using the E171 with a PC, laptop, TV, or other device, use that device’s volume controls instead. The in-line controls are intended for compatible phones and tablets.

Using an Adapter but Still No Sound

The adapter may not support audio. Try another compatible USB-C-to-3.5 mm or Lightning-to-3.5 mm audio adapter. If possible, also test the E171 directly with a device that has a built-in 3.5 mm headphone port.
