D4169 – How to Connect the Audikast to Your TV

Follow these steps to connect your Audikast transmitter directly to your TV without a soundbar or AV receiver.

Before You Start: Check the audio output ports on your TV. You only need to use one audio connection.

Step 1 – Find Your TV's Audio Output

Look at the back or side of your TV for one of these ports:

Option 1 – Optical Audio OUT (Recommended)

May be labeled Digital Audio OUT, Optical, SPDIF, or TOSLINK.

Option 2 – 3.5mm Headphone / AUX OUT

A small round headphone jack, often marked with a headphone symbol.

Option 3 – Red and White RCA Audio OUT

Two round ports labeled Audio OUT.

Important: RCA ports labeled Audio IN will not work.

Step 2 – Connect Power to the Audikast

  1. Connect the supplied Micro USB cable to the Audikast transmitter.
  2. Plug the other end into a TV USB port or a 5V USB wall adapter.
  3. Turn ON the transmitter.
Recommended: Use a USB wall adapter if the transmitter does not receive stable power from the TV. Required power: 5V, 500mA–2A.

Step 3 – Connect the Audio Cable

Choose the connection that matches your TV.

Option 1 – Optical Connection (Recommended)

  1. Connect the optical cable to your TV's Digital Audio OUT (Optical) port.
  2. Connect the other end to the Audikast's OPTICAL IN port.
  3. In your TV's sound settings, select Optical Audio Output and set the digital audio format to PCM.
Important: Set the TV audio format to PCM / Stereo, not Dolby Digital or Bitstream.
Option 2 – Connect Using the Headphone / AUX Port

  1. Connect one end of the 3.5mm AUX cable to your TV's Headphone OUT port.
  2. Connect the other end to the Audikast's AUX IN port.
  3. Select the TV's Headphone audio output if required.
  4. Adjust the TV volume to a comfortable level.
Option 3 – Connect Using Red and White RCA Audio OUT

  1. Find the TV's red and white Audio OUT ports.
  2. Connect the red and white RCA plugs to the matching TV ports.
  3. Connect the 3.5mm end of the RCA-to-AUX cable to the Audikast's AUX IN port.
  4. Check your TV's sound settings if audio does not play.
Important: The TV ports must be labeled Audio OUT. Ports labeled Audio IN cannot send sound to the Audikast.

Step 4 – Test the TV Audio

  1. Turn ON your TV and play a video or TV channel with sound.
  2. Make sure the Audikast is connected to the correct audio output on the TV.
  3. Connect your headphones to the transmitter to hear the TV audio.
Next Step: Your Audikast is now connected to the TV. Pair your Bluetooth headphones with the transmitter to start listening.
Connected but No Sound?
  1. Make sure your TV is playing something with sound.
  2. Check that the audio cable is connected to an OUT port on the TV.
  3. If using Optical, select Optical Output and set the TV audio format to PCM.
  4. If using AUX, check the TV headphone volume.
  5. Make sure your Bluetooth headphones are connected to the Audikast transmitter.
