This issue is often caused by a Windows setting called Exclusive Mode, which allows individual applications (like Zoom, Teams, Discord, etc.) to take full control of your audio device. When this happens, these apps may force the headset to use a lower-quality audio format (e.g., mono, 16 kHz), causing your music or video audio to sound tinny or muffled.
✅ Fix: Disable Exclusive Mode
Here’s how to do it:
1. Right-click the 🔊 sound icon in the taskbar and choose Sounds.
2. Go to the Playback tab and double-click your Avantree headset.
3. In the new window, go to the Advanced tab.
4. Under Exclusive Mode, uncheck:
▢"Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
▢"Give exclusive mode applications priority" (optional)
5. Click Apply and OK.
This will prevent apps from forcing low-quality settings and ensure your headset always uses the best possible audio format for music, movies, and calls.
