Hearing Aid Compatibility with LE Audio and Auracast™
Many hearing aid manufacturers are embracing LE Audio and Auracast™ technology to improve sound quality and enable low-latency connections. Below is a list of hearing aids expected to support these features:
- Oticon Intent
- Jabra Enhance Pro 20
- ReSound Nexia
- Beltone Serene
- Starkey Edge AI
- Signia Pure Charge & Go IX
- Phonak Audeo Sphere Infinio
- Many more coming...
While many manufacturers are still finalizing their companion apps as of January 25, 2025, updates are expected throughout the year. A firmware update may be required to enable Auracast™ support.
How to Use Avantree Transmitters with Your Hearing Aids
Once your hearing aids and their companion app are ready, follow these steps:
Step 1: Verify Auracast™ and LE Audio Support
Check the hearing aid specifications to ensure they support Auracast™ and LE Audio (LC3) technology. Even if some hearing aids claim to support LE Audio, the application may not yet be ready. You can check the companion app (e.g., Signia App, Starkey Thrive App, Rexton App, Widex Moment App, Phonak, etc.).
Look for a section labeled Auracast™, Broadcast Audio, or LE Audio in the app. If not found, it means your hearing aids might support this in the future but are not yet ready. If found, please proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Enable Auracast™ on the Avantree Transmitter
Turn on the Auracast™ Broadcast Mode on your Avantree audio transmitter. Most Avantree transmitters' Auracast mode shows an ORANGE LED indicator. Play audio from your source device and ensure the correct output is selected.
Step 3: Connect & Enjoy
- Scan for Available Broadcasts: Use the app to scan for nearby Auracast™ broadcasts.
- Select and Connect: Choose the desired broadcast from the list and connect.
- Adjust Settings: Use the app to adjust the volume and other preferences as needed.
Additional Notes
Availability of Auracast™ features may vary by region and firmware version. Consult your hearing care professional or hearing aid manufacturer's customer support for the latest guidance.
