DG40S - Troubleshooting - Not working (Win 7, 8, XP)

Keyewords: DG40s, not working, Win 7, Win8, Win XP, Defective

The most common reason for this is a driver conflict. You might have installed the driver unsuccessfully or you might have a conflicting driver in the PC that you are you not aware of.

Please follow the steps below>

1. Install Bluesoleil
Pls download the latest driver from here (NOT from ANY other non-Avantree site!!!)

2. Check the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar

After driver installation, then plug the dongle in >> reboot the PC >> check the Bluetooth icon on the right corner of your taskbar (click on the "Up" arrow if it's hidden in the notifications area).

a) If the Bluetooth icon is BLUE then the DG40S dongle should be working correctly.

b) If the Bluetooth icon is GREY - please left-click on the icon and select "Turn On Bluetooth".

If it stays GREY, reboot your computer with DG40S Plugged in  or try changing to another USB port.
Try turning Bluetooth on again - if it still doesn't work (i.e. the icon stays GREY), please proceed to the next step.

2. BlueSoleil/Driver conflict

a) BlueSoleil Conflict
Uninstall Bluesoleil, reboot your computer then re-install Bluesoleil.
To uninstall please see:

To install Bluesoleil please see:

b) Driver conflict

Step 1. Disable all other Bluetooth drivers

Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
Expand the Bluetooth radio button and right-click and select Disable for each item.

In the example below the "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" is the built-in Bluetooth device driver while the "Logitech BT Adapter" is a third party device driver. See example:

Step 2. Plug the DG40S back in again and Turn On Bluetooth it should turn BLUE.
If it's still GREY then proceed to next step.

Step 3. Uninstall all third party Bluetooth device drivers.
(No need to uninstall the built-in "Generic" driver but leave it "disabled").

Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
Expand the Bluetooth radio button and right-click and select Uninstall for each third party driver.

After the uninstall process completes please reboot your computer.
Now plug the dongle in - you should now see the Bluetooth icon in your taskbar turn BLUE.
